The ASEAN Food Security Alliance (AFSA) is the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Philippines' flagship initiative designed to unite leading agribusinesses and agri-food players to build a more resilient and competitive food ecosystem in the region through strategic policy planning and meaningful collaboration.
The initiative is founded on three key pillars: economic integration, technology and innovation transfer, policy and trade harmonization. In pursuing these strategies, the ASEAN-BAC is convening the AFSA Roundtables to serve as the primary platform for discussion among policymakers, industry leaders, agribusinesses, and other stakeholders.
The ASEAN Food Security & Agribusiness Summit shall be the culminating event held to bridge the gap between policy and implementation through dialogue. The AFSA Spotlight Series for Agri-Champions also presents testimony to the success of the 'Big Brother' model, in its mentorship program for smallholder farms.
Strategic Objectives
AFSA's strategic objectives include the following means:
Transitioning the AFSA Policy Paper into localized, scalable frameworks for participating ASEAN member states
Securing commitments from leading agribusinesses and financial institutions for access to supply chains, agricultural financing, and mentorship to smallholder farms
Enhancing agricultural practices through the adoption of climate resilient agriculture technology and digital platforms
Strengthening supply and logistics linkages across member nations
Institutionalizing summits and meetings to serve as mechanisms for public-private collaboration and dialogue
