The ASEAN BAC's MSME Development (MSMED) Initiative is anchored on digital growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship, building on the ASEAN Mentorship Entrepreneurs Network (AMEN) 2.0 and the 3M Framework of Mentorship, Money, and Market Access.
To achieve this vision, ASEAN-BAC Philippines advances regional policy reforms through the MSME Policy Brief and convenes the ASEAN MSME Development Summit.
Additionally, the council partners with the Tech for Good Institute to address AI skills gaps and promote responsible digital growth, and collaborates with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to equip accounting and finance professionals with the skills needed to support MSMEs' digital transformation.
The initiative also aims to become a sustainable regional platform that delivers technical assistance, capacity-building, and policy coordination, enabling MSMEs to become more resilient, digitally empowered, and globally competitive.
Strategic Objectives
Strategic objectives to strengthen MSME development include:
Deepening mentorship by connecting MSMEs with industry leaders, experts, and regional partners
Expanding access to different kinds of financing
Reducing trade barriers while making use of digital trade and e-commerce platforms
Developing entrepreneurial, digital, management, and future-ready skills
Promoting AI awareness and adoption to improve productivity, innovation, and competitiveness
These efforts can hopefully empower enterprises through better access to finance, mentorship, digital capabilities, AI readiness, and cross-border market opportunities, creating a much stronger and more competitive MSME ecosystem across the region.
